TDS meter and chemical strip

There are two ways to test the water, one is with this chemical strip that only measures hardness (Ca2+ ions) and the other is an electricity meter that measures total dissolved solids, TDS (ie all ions including Ca2+, Mg2+, Na+, K+, etc.). So if you just want to test hardness (Ca2+), this chemistry strip is for you! An electrical TDS meter measures the electrical conductivity of water because it contains ions. The water softener essentially replaces the Ca2+ ions with Na+ ions, leaving the ppm conductivity almost unchanged. As previously explained, TDS measures the electrical conductivity of water, so it doesn't matter what type of ions are in the water. Today I also installed a reverse osmosis, reverse osmosis, filter system and wanted to test the water. RO is for drinking water only and I installed a separate faucet for that. I measured the TDS in this water and it was 14ppm.

  • Lighting and electricity
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something
