I have two Chorkies (Chihuahua/Yorky mix) weighing 9 and 8 pounds. My big puppy is scared in the car. He's shaking all over, panting and whimpering a little. I as the mother of his dog feel very sad because there are times when we have to travel and nothing can calm his nerves. I've even tried these calming treats said to help a dog cope with stress, but no luck. He was still very excited in the car. A few years ago I had a dog that was rescued by a mestizo who also didn't like being in the car. However, she was big enough that I could get her a soft harness and secure her with a seat belt, and there was no more stress in the car. Well it got me thinking maybe my little ones need reassurance on a road trip too. However, because these dogs are so small, the padded harness and harness method will not work. That's when I started looking into these pet boosters, but I wasn't sure if they were worth the time/effort/money etc. This Solvit seat caught my attention. I ordered a very large seat as my dog's total weight is around 17-18 pounds and I wanted them to have some space to lie down if they wanted it too. The seat arrived on May 5th and assembly only took about 10 minutes. The construction is durable, the fabric is pleasing to the eye. The cover is also removable for washing and makes a quite durable impression. There are 2 harness clips. So if like me you have 2 small dogs you can safely buckle them both. Installation in the car only took a few minutes! I'm happy to report that during our first 2.5 hour drive on 06/03 my normally anxious dog got upset. was so happy and content that he slept most of the time (when he and his sister weren't looking out the window, that is). The same situation was on our 3/8 return trip. I can't say every dog would have the same reaction but my little one loves to sit in the chair and not be nervous anymore which makes this dog mom very happy! I even posted a photo of them on the chair. Couldn't take any of them safely as they slept on longer non-stop trips.
