Review on Portable ZOOM H5 Dark Gray Recorder by Hayden Chew ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

All is well, liked the product, didn't buy it for nothing.

It has served faithfully for many years, but noisy preamps are really annoying, you constantly have to clean it in post-processing. Well, the truth is, if you write correctly, then this is not a problem until you have to write quiet sounds. I can’t say that it keeps the battery for a long time, but this is more the fault of the batteries that I use with it, otherwise I prefer to power it from the mains via USB. And here a problem arose, once it was dropped to me and the USB connector broke out. I was worn out, disassembled, hardly soldered into place. The fact is that the connector itself does not hold anything in the case, except for the tin on the board, so it broke out "with the root". Naturally, after that, nothing holds him, so my work was in vain, the connector no longer lives in place and quickly fell off again. so now I can not use this piece of iron as a portable audio interface from a computer and power it from the network. By the way, a bonus - there is a mixer type in the software, so you can use it for apartments like a microphone + guitar, mix sound on it and output it to speakers (on jbl-ku for example) from the headphone jack

Pros
  • Small, light, easy and convenient to use, it can write to itself at the same time and send a signal per channel via usb to a computer.
Cons
  • Noisy preamps, loose USB connector, obsolete mini USB-B connector

Pros: Heavy, good built-in microphone, two inputs, adjustment, display. Got cons: it was possible to make it smaller, or maybe not)) but it would be better if it was lighter. And a map included would be nice too.
