Review on πŸ” The Ultimate Kitchen Upgrade: KOHLER 596-VS Simplice Pull Down Kitchen Faucet - Sleek High Arch Design in Vibrant Stainless Steel by Peter Tennant

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I really like the style and functionality. Received in perfect condition.

This item was purchased as an exact replacement for a faucet I purchased three years ago. The original failed due to improper installation. There was water in the tap when it was delivered, although it obviously hasn't been used or returned. Kohler says it's the leak test at the factory. Installation was completed in half an hour using just a #2 Phillips screwdriver and a 5/8-inch open-end wrench. Absolutely no leaks after installation. This faucet has a retractable hose that hangs under the sink. Years. Upon examining the faulty hose, I thought it had failed due to poor design. Turns out it failed because the original install was wrong. I replaced the entire faucet because I couldn't determine if the replacement hoses I found at Revain and elsewhere would work for this faucet. Also, I was hoping that Kohler had improved the design of this hose during this time and that the hose came with a new fixture that lasts longer. When I read the installation instructions for the new faucet, I found that the hose weight on the original faucet was installed incorrectly and this was the reason for the early failure. st in the withdrawal process. In my original setup, the weight was left slack so it just slid into the bottom of the loop. I thought it was intentional. Over time, the hose at each end of the load became severely bent. When I pulled the faucet head out, the bends straightened and the hose broke on the inside of one of the bends. When properly installed, a cable tie is used to hold the weight over the loop. This creates a straight downward pull on the hose and does not result in sharp hose bends. This installation is clearly shown in the instructions, but apparently my plumber didn't have a zip tie. Kohler doesn't supply it. If you are installing this faucet yourself, be sure to follow the weight placement instructions. If you installed it professionally, make sure your plumber followed the instructions. If the load is free to slide to the bottom of the loop, the hose will fail after a few years of service.
