I bought a few regular smart light switches from different companies. They work fine. The problem is that they all have modern button activation. Not a big deal, but I prefer an old-fashioned switch with a nice audible click that physically moves in your hand. It looks more substantial and suits the traditional home. A modern button (and most of them backlit) might be fine for a "modern style" home, but it's a bit out of character for my home. It looks too "sterile". You can place this Sonoff Mini behind your existing switch and turn it into a smart switch. It's perfect. no one knows anything has changed. The old Levitron brand light switch still makes a loud clicking noise when you flick it, but now you can turn off the bathroom light from the bedroom. More usefully, I can use the Sonoff app to set the switch to stay on for 30 seconds. minutes and then turns off automatically. I used it to run the bathroom fan for 30 minutes to dry the tiles and prevent mold. I've had it for a few months now and it works great. Criticisms: 1. Despite being small, it's still a bit large to fit behind the existing switch and still be able to stuff the tough solid wires used in the 110V design .You can do this, but it's really time consuming and frustrating to have everything sit flat.2. To do this, you need to "pass" an existing switch Sonoff. The existing switch becomes just an external low voltage control for the transistor and relay, rather than directly controlling the house's 110V power. That's fine for now, but when the electrician comes he'll be very surprised (and confused) at what it is you find. If Sonoff fails, the switch stops working. I doubt the Sonoff will last as long as the Levitron physical light switch.3. Sonoff uses its own app and server instead of Smartlife, which is becoming the de facto standard. If Sonoff discontinues this product, goes out of business, or encounters server/internet issues, the device will no longer function as a smart switch. it also means it's a separate app from all your other devices. The counterargument is that you *can* replace the firmware with one that doesn't depend on Sonoff or the internet. But it's not easy at all. In general, I like the device and I buy a second one. It has a unique capability (converting an existing switch), is a well-known brand with a large user community, and is very affordable.
