Wait, does that work so well?

Okay, I love these little things. I love automation and smart home control. My wife loves switches. I no longer have to choose and I don't have to spend $20-$30 on a dedicated smart light switch. I can just keep what I have and improve on it. Today I installed a couple of these in a three mailbox mailbox to control the lights and ceiling fan from the comfort of my bed. Probably the best solution for remodeling a wall switch and keeping the existing element intact.

I bought a few regular smart light switches from different companies. They work fine. The problem is that they all have modern button activation. Not a big deal, but I prefer an old-fashioned switch with a nice audible click that physically moves in your hand. It looks more substantial and suits the traditional home. A modern button (and most of them backlit) might be fine for a "modern style" home, but it's a bit out of character for my home. It looks too "sterile". You can place this Sonoff…

------------------ UPDATE ------------------ 2021- 07-28: Installed in early spring while working (mostly) in DIY mode. The only problem I had was that it sometimes dropped the Wi-Fi connection. The good news is that it recovers on its own in 5-10 minutes. And that with an external antenna outside the junction box. I'll have to see if it still works next winter.
