Neat Cable Set for Vantrue DVR

We have 3 of these wired charging cables because we have 3 Vantrue N4 DVRs. I love these cable sets and they are useful as they allow our cameras to capture the events that happened after we got out of the car. I will say that this may drain your battery a bit. It is therefore important that you have a good battery in your car. It will turn off when the battery voltage in your car is low, so you don't have to worry about your battery running out. dead if your car sits for two weeks. One of our cars (a 2013 Dodge Challenger SRT) had an original battery and worked fine for its 7 years, but shortly after installing this harness on this car in the morning it started to discharge. I could tell the battery was getting low because the dash cam turned off quickly after I parked the car. But that's not the fault of this cable set either, because it switches off at 11.6 volts. I mention this because I think some people will unknowingly install this kit in a dead battery car and they will blame the wiring harness because their car has not had any starting problems before and they might end up with a bad review for a good product leave behind. I installed a new battery in this car and have had no problems since. And this car can sit for two or three weeks because it just became a weekend car. We have a 2019 Chevy Spark and a 2021 Kia Seltos. As for the Challenger and the Spark, we find that the DVRs turn off for a while if they sit all night or for a while when the cars start they eventually turn back on, but I thought they turned on off because the voltage briefly drops below the 11.6 volt threshold and rises again while the machine is running. This isn't a huge problem for me as I just unplug the DVR from the base before starting the car and then plug the camera back in while the car is moving and check that the DVR is recording before driving. Our Kia Seltos has stop-start technology that automatically turns off the engine when we stop at a traffic light and turns it on again automatically when we release the brake pedal. I'm not sure what they did with the technology in this car, but it starts up so easily that the DVR in this car never turned off when it started. I think it's a worthwhile investment with the Vantrue dashcams (we have 3 Vantrue N4 dashcams). I've looked at footage of people walking and looking in the car when we weren't there, and then they seem to have noticed the dashcam before and decide to leave. I love how it plugs into the car's OBD2 port so I don't have to fiddle with any wires in the fuse box and makes installation a lot quicker. (And I was a diesel truck technician for 13 years, so I appreciated the less effort). I expect that in many cars there will be a temporary DVR shutdown when the car is started with this harness after it has been idling for a period of time. Time. It doesn't matter to me, but it can make a huge difference for many people as sometimes the dashcam won't turn on until you unplug and plug it back in. But he won't miss the footage until the car starts.
