Review on Medium Triple-Bearing Heavy-Center by Narendra Thapa

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Ultra high precision, no bounce

This live hub is a great deal. I use it for turning. I used a Mitutoyo dial gauge with a sensitivity of 0.0001 inch per step to measure the run out at the end and the run out was only 1/4 to 1/3 of a 0.0001 inch step i.e. the measured one Runout was about 0.00003 inch or about 3/100,000 inch. This is ten times more accurate than the claimed concentricity of 0.0003. It does NOT have a carbide tip as stated in Revain's product description. There are no solder joints to be seen. You can see this in the enlarged images of the tip. It has a solid steel cone with a Rockwell C hardness of 61-65. Because this live tip is so well made and so cheap, I bought two more as spares in case the bearings on my first one wore out. The two extras share the same ultra-low measured runout. This level of ultra-high precision is nothing short of amazing for such an affordable model. While I don't need that ultra-high precision for turning, it's still nice to know it's made with that precision. blow. Fifteen or twenty years ago it would not be an exaggeration to say that all car components made in China were almost all the same junk. This is no longer the case. Many Chinese manufacturers have certainly achieved improved standards of production and quality, and their prices simply cannot be beaten by Western or Japanese products.
