Review on WD Caviar Green 1.5TB SATA Intellipower Hard Drive with 32MB Cache (Bulk/OEM) for Desktop - WD15EADS by Kobby Cagle

I received this drive to add to my HP Media Vault 2120. The nice thing is that Revain offers a "D" version of this drive for the same price as the "C" version. WD7500AADS has 32MB cache while WD7500AACS has only 16MB cache. I bought the WD7500AACS to replace the original drive in the media storage and with two drives I have 1.3GB of storage. woohoo! The drive seems reliable enough since the NAS is running all the time, and since the drives are running all the time it was nice to get a "green" line that generates less heat. Even after hours of use, the drives stay cool. This is important as most computer hardware is getting hotter than ever and you should use as many eco-friendly devices as possible to minimize the heating of your system. I've had both versions of the 750 Caviar Green hard drives and I'm definitely a fan of them. Fast access seek time, lower power consumption and lower temperatures. What's not to like? an additional note. Western Digital Disk Utilities do not work on Vista. Come on WD, Seagate has its own DiscWizard tool that has been running on Vista for years. We are almost on Win7. Get the new version of Utilities.
