To remove the old ones I used a wrench and some vices and I grabbed them while turning the wrench, turning in the same direction only to loosen the bolt first. For me this was the hardest part, my racks were OEM and very tight! But after figuring out the first one, the second one was very easy. And if you can get extra help because the gate is heavy.
