This moisture meter only works on _very_ flat wood; Wood that has been planed and/or sanded ready for finishing. For other woods, if I move the meter about an inch or less, the moisture reading displayed will vary by as much as 8 percentage points. It only provides stable readings on the surface of a tree. This obviously makes it unusable for firewood; The cut end of the log I tested showed 13%, 21% and everything in between, all on one side of a 6 inch log. The same mix of readings occurred when I checked the gauge on some raw wood I had - wood. it has been indoors for many years and its humidity level needs to be stable and consistent It is also worth noting that the manual is written in almost illegible Chinglish The description of how to perform a zero calibration on the device (a necessary step before use) is then so garbled and baffling that reading aloud could be a good comedic routine.
