Review on ๐Ÿšด Cane Creek Thudbuster ST Suspension Seatpost 27.2 (Latest Model) by Joshua Morales

The best investment in bike comfort we've ever made!

We own e-bikes and ride a lot on the road and (light) trails. We're both older and haven't ridden bikes in many years, and we're both getting used to cycling again. It is shown to me because the coccyx hurts almost constantly. Part of that is because I'm not short, so I crush my buttocks when I ride, but another part is that we tend to ride our big-tire bikes over relatively rough terrain. Bsides of back roads or riding bike/walking trails that are generally not perfectly smooth and have bumps/rocks/ridges/sticks/holes/etc. result in a somewhat bumpy ride. Our bikes have front shock absorbers but no rear suspension. We had big old comfy seats, which helped a bit, but we both got hit by the bee anyway. I was looking for hanging seat posts and came across them. They meet our needs as they have adjustable/interchangeable elastomers for different weight ranges up to 350lbs! Neither of us are that heavy, but I'm close and had to order their "super hard" elastomer separately (it was cheap, under $10). My wife was able to use any of the three elastomers that came with Thudbuster. ST. Also note that currently only the ST Thudbuster version supports a 350lb driver. "ST" stands for "Short Throw," which refers to how much the seatpost moves when it hits bumps. The ST/Short Throw is 50mm and the LT/Long Throw is 90mm. This means the ST caters to heavier riders, but the LT offers a softer ride. If you're on the lighter side (under 250 pounds), you might want to check out the Thudbuster LT instead. Installation was a breeze once you know how to attach bike seats to posts and how posts fit into bike frames. The first ride was like night and day, and bumps, bumps and vibration were *significantly* reduced or eliminated. My rear end still needs to get used to the ride, but that suspension seatpost makes things MUCH more bearable. Highly recommended.
