There are interchangeable bearings. The tool destroys existing ones.

I used for SRAM BB92. I was hoping I could remove the bearing to clean and lubricate the frame chamber and reinstall. Completes the task of removing, but destroys the camp. Got your new stock. Too bad, because my bearings were actually fine, but I had some serious crank squeaking from all that sand working its way through the Trek ex7's open frame.
