I was looking for a cheap golf range finder and this one got very good reviews. Three main functions: scan, golf, speed. I can say that I will never use the speed function, so basically these are two useful functions. Pros: Inexpensive, lightweight, accurate, very easy to use, good carrying case. My first rangefinder seemed easy to use. Easy to see and fly the flag. It vibrates when fixed and shows distance. Cons: You can't "turn off" the incline feature in golf mode. Damn. Pitch measurements are illegal at sanctioned golf tournaments. BUT you can use the scan function which doesn't have incline measurements if you plan to use this device in a golf tournament. The downside is that you can't commit a read to a target. You can still determine the distance to the flag by scanning the flag back and forth. Tip: Buy an inexpensive foldable camera monopod that you can use to stabilize the unit, and you can slip it in your golf bag along with your clubs and clubs. Never forget your device or leave it behind.
