WHY I WANTED TO BUY MOTION DETECTORS: I have a covered porch and people come to my front door for deliveries, mail and visits. I like to stay in rooms at the back of the house so I don't know when someone is on my porch. I have security cameras recording 24 hours a day, so I always have impeccable video evidence of any activity on or near my porch. I've been getting motion detectors from Harbor Freight for years. Very cheap and work very well. I love her. But for reasons unknown, Harbor Freight no longer sells them. They serve a couple of years, after which they need to be replaced. Because they're small and portable, I can move them around and put them anywhere, and I really like that flexibility. My last sensor broke and I can't get a replacement. This motion sensor looked similar, and while it was a lot more expensive, I was able to get at least two sensors with one receiver. I bought two sets. PRO: 1. Looks identical in design and operation to the motion sensors I need to replace.2. Two sensors and a receiver seemed like the best buy.3. I can power them with the AC adapter and not have to change the batteries in the receiver. The sensors use a 9 volt battery that lasts about 6 months.4. Sensor or weather protection. (I've left my old sensors in the scorching sun, scorching heat, rain, snow and ice and they've never failed.) Cons: 1. The price for two sensors and a receiver is about 1/3 more than what I got have paid in the past year.2. When delivered, two sensors and one receiver did not work. I had to disassemble and solder loose wires to make them work.3. The sensors aren't very sensitive to movement unless they're really big and continuous, and then there's a long delay before the receiver/alarm activates. When I check my security cameras, nothing is happening on my porch, yard, driveway, or street. I need to save the recording to see what happened to trigger the alarm. It's really useless for my purposes. Until I know it's over.4. I installed them after a few months and 3 sensors and a receiver stopped working. The only still functioning sensor is sluggish and insensitive, and the receiver, which used to be quite loud, can hardly be heard. Basically, they come out and get to the point where they're useless. MY RECOMMENDATION: If, like me, you're looking to replace the motion sensors/receivers that Harbor Freight used to sell, these units aren't the right choice. . This is rubbish and a waste of money. My recommendation is DO NOT BUY.
