Great communication in one package!

Getting a new Macbook Pro with USB-C means you'll be buying cables, or "dongles" as they're called. There are other ports that only have SD/MicroSD and USB 3.0, but this one also has VGA, HDMI, and Ethernet. That way I have a connector I can slip in my pocket and when I need to connect to Powerpoint I don't have to go through countless keys to find the VGA or HDMI adapter. there were any problems. In fact, the SD read speeds seem to be faster than the standalone SD card reader I bought (and returned because the mount was installed upside down). Unlike any other hardport I've seen, this one is about twice as wide. It protrudes twice as far from the Macbook. But it also has a cable mount instead of a USB-C hard-plug adapter, so it doesn't get in the way. I really like it and I know if I go to 3 conferences in May and June this year to present, others will see it and want to know where I'm going. Don't be greedy, but if they just added a DVI port, life would be complete. <g>One note: the device does get a little warm - I wouldn't say it's hot, but it just feels warm when plugged in - whether you're using it for anything or not. But as I said, just a note is not a problem. I would recommend buying it, it's a good price and worth it.
