Mine doesn't leak AT ALL. It heats up quickly and starts brewing and boils water much faster than the stovetop type. It turns off the boiler when there is only a small (but negligible) amount of water left - the water doesn't dry completely inside, which prevents limescale build-up and also WON'T OVERHEAT YOUR COFFEE. You can turn it on and leave knowing that when you return you will have a hot cup of espresso and no brewing coffee with scale on the bottom of the kettle and a broken gasket. For me a HUGE plus over stovetop models. The espresso is very good. Can't complain given the price. It is recommended to use high-quality ground coffee specifically for espresso. I use Lavazza or Illy. If you use a cheap coffee grinder to grind beans you will get poor results as very fine particles will get into your cup through the permanent filter and clog the filter.
