We bought this cable to replace another cable that was starting to rust and break in places. This one holds up very well. I've found the clasp doesn't rust or stick as much as some of the others we've used. about twenty minutes at a time. That's a good weight and strength for a dog her size. She also thinks it's great for confusing other dogs who are trying to steal tennis balls from her. Editing my review to add: We bought this cable in July and it broke in January. The cable was outdoors the whole time, so it was exposed to heat, rain and cold. We only use this on our bitch when we are outside with her so she isn't constantly pressuring her. I would imagine it would last less if she always wore it down and it would probably last longer if we brought it in when not in use. However, for our purposes, the lifespan is about six months. In addition, the cable itself failed, the fasteners had not yet rusted and worked normally.
