This is a real UV unit, not a toy. I used my UVA detector and it registered 450 AU on UVA (no UVB rays were detected). The sun is over 2000 but 450 will still hurt your eyes. Ignore any article that says otherwise as these ignorant people will see the purple tint and think it's a toy. My other UV flashlight is only UV with no violet light but it is 300 AU. and not as bright as this light. This illuminates urine, blood etc much better than my UV light and I like the purple color which tells me it is a dangerous UV flashlight. My other UV flash isn't obvious to range so I had to label it as dangerous UV. Be sure to buy yellow UV protection sunglasses to protect your eyes and do not use them around children or animals. This is not a toy.
