Review on Smiths Adjustable Manual Knife Sharpener by Jerome Godwin

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I didn't want to get stones and oil done.

I bought this knife sharpener for my son as a Christmas present many years ago and have recently (but discreetly) used it on my cutlery (Henkel and Wüsthof). To be honest, I was a bit lazy and my knives lost some of their sharpness. I didn't want stones and oil to get the job done so I borrowed my son's sharpener. It works really great which I don't want to admit as it looks like a scam and is a small fraction of what I spent on the stones. I understand needing to buy one for myself so I looked around to see if there was anything better and I couldn't find anything that looked better. This adjustable is just what I need. I looked at the 1 star reviews and there was a common theme of the knife blade rattling when the blade is drawn. It is possible if you don't use it properly! If your blade is very dull, you need to pull in a very light, steady, and quick motion. You never have to push hard when you pull. Even pressure. Don't be a beast! Subtlety is what you need. I will buy another one.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • No insurance
