I have had a reverse osmosis (R/O) system to supply drinking water in our home for many years. I always just assumed it was working properly as the treated water slowly builds up. I change the R/O membrane every few years with the same performance. However, when the membrane was last changed, the water was treated more quickly than usual. This raised concerns that a leak could occur. I ordered this TDS meter and received a ppm reading within minutes of my arrival confirming the R/O system was working properly. I understand that a properly working reverse osmosis system should reduce ppm to 1/10th of the water supplied. My readings are: tap water: 450ppm and return water: 35ppm. The TDS digital display lights up red for bad readings and green for good readings. I tested other faucets around the house (indoor and outdoor) to see the effect of water system components like the entire house filter and water softener. It is great to know this information about our drinking water.
