Review on Wireless Flash Speedlite with Radio Slave for Canon - YONGNUO YN685 - GN60 2.4G System with ETTL and HSS Capabilities by Frank Chinchilla

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great flash for cheap photos

Received a few days ago and am damn happy. I have a Canon 600XR-RT at work - a great flash - at a great price. I now have six Yongnuo flashes - 3 560s, 2-468s and this one. 560 is not TTL - others. The radio trigger on this flash obviously doesn't work with the others I have, but they all fire on infrared in slave mode. So while it's a good basic flash for newer radio-triggered devices, I can still use it as my main flash, fired off-camera by my pocket assistants, and have it activate fill-flash, backlight, and hair. . A YN flash on umbrella stands is less than half the price of one of my Alien Bee studio flashes. Basically, I have a five-light portable studio for $400. The light quality is constant and I rarely have dropouts. Five stars for being a damn good copy of Canon's high-end flash that I don't feel the need to jump off the roof of if (and if) it falls over. I've done 2-3 pretty good drops on the 560s and they still work. In general, I'm a fan of Yongnuo.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Okay for the most part, but...
