My 8-month old iPhone Xr was not hurting for battery stamina (yet), but I was intrigued to see how this battery case could augment my phone in case of emergencies (i.e. not having a charger nearby) and in case of damage. Overall, I'm happy to report this case has met my expectations of longer life and better protection than my former hard shell case.The iPhone slides in quite snugly into the case, creating a very tight seal around the whole phone. I also very much appreciated the screen protector that came bundled with the case. This case is certainly thicker than most soft/hard shell cases and it creates a bulkier phone, but that is the cost of using a battery case. The case has thin rubberized flaps over the power/volume buttons, which allow you to use them without a problem. In addition, the case has a micro-USB port at the bottom to charge both the case and the phone itself (so you don't have to take the case off when you just want to charge up). Of course, you lose the ability to wirelessly charge, but a price I'm willing to pay.The one issue I have with the case is that the vibrate/silent flipswitch is unusable in this case. I have to pop the top off everytime I want to silence my phone. I thought this was due to not having long fingernails, but my wife struggled to flip the switch as well. It might serve Alpatronix well to make that opening slightly thinner so that there is better accessibility. However, I almost exclusively keep my phone on silent mode, so it doesn't bother me enough to warrant any reduction in the 5-star rating, but buyer beware.The battery size and the speed of recharge are both impressive. I charged my phone from 13% and reached over 50% in about 30 minutes. After charging from 13% to 100%, I had enough battery left over to recharge the phone from 75% to 92%. This absolutely passes my stress test to ensure I can go 2+ days without needing an external charger.This case has impressed me enough that it has replaced my old one permanently. I can watch full-length shows and play music all day without getting anxiety about my battery going at an inopportune time. Looking forward to having this case extend the life of my phone as the internal battery loses strength over the next 12 months.
