A must for tramps

Bought this a year ago and used it on a couple of cross country trips. It's a solid block and I haven't had any problems with it. I find the remote-controlled on/off switch particularly useful. Our inverter and battery can't handle a 1500w air conditioner, microwave, hair dryer or coffee maker, but we have a 3500w generator for that. It easily handles our lamps and TVs and charges our laptops, phones etc when we are out and prevents us from running the generator at night. I'm not an electrician so the biggest problem for me was figuring out the wiring. After numerous instructional videos on YouTube I was able to connect two 6v 235ah golf cart batteries in series, a separate meter and shunt to monitor battery usage and this inverter. With the fuses on the AC, microwave and converter all off, I can connect the shoreline cable directly to the inverter and use the RV's 12v outlets. If money allows I'll probably get a 3000w Voltmaster inverter and two 200Ah Lifepo4 lithium batteries in parallel so I can use AC and off-grid microwave economically.

Pros

Cons
  • Big and bulky
