I bought this because my wife's car tire had a 3" bolt and was about 3/4" off the tread angle which most tire shops don't try to patch or plug. take responsibility, for example if it causes damage to the tire, the profile of the tire itself will begin to weaken. I opened the little black bag it was in, took out the tool, put the rubber strip in the tool, unscrewed the screw, first used the cleaning tool to make the hole cleaner and rounder to accommodate the rubber strip. There is an adhesive on the rubber strip so insert the rubber strip tool as directed and remove the rubber strip tool remaining in the hole. To date there have been no leaks or problems. I would buy another one if needed.
