This trimmer does a great job but you had better read the instructions and follow them verbatim. The side of the trimmer has a length range of 11 to 3. I didn't pay attention when I first tried this (3 were installed out of the box). It took me 5 seconds to realize I had done something seriously wrong because he was literally pulling his hair out instead of cutting it off. Ouch. Moved to 11, the longest. Worked great. Slowly decrease the length step by step. It's great too. The other end of the "razor". Fur. Kind of shit. Use clippers to keep everything very short, then finish with a regular razor if you want it sleek. That sharp end is really biting.
