Daniel Smith is the best. Made in America and of the highest quality. Incredible mineral pigments primarily from the USA. They cost more because they are the highest quality PIGMENTS, not dyes (which fade, work poorly, and shine poorly) so this is what you get if you or someone you know is serious about art. They go well with other colors, create great shadows, warm up or cool down the color. I'm just thrilled and very proud of this company. Asian watercolors are for Eastern "papers" and Western watercolor companies work best on 100% pure cotton paper, so this gets expensive VERY quickly! The tubes are small (most of them) with watercolor paints because you're just painting/glazing the paper. If you're just starting out get the Cotman Field Kit (Windsor & Newton) and then these if you're up to the challenge. And it will take YEARS! Most people are "beginners" even with 3 years of watercolor work. Daniel Smith is one of the newer companies and I hope they have the stamina that some of the older companies have as I plan to invest (it will take time) to use only this company's watercolors. Yes. That's good. Thank you to everyone at this company for such high quality, beautiful selection and original colors. This is the stuff of the American Dream.
