Review on 3 Inch Foam Paint Roller With 3/16 Inch Thickness - FoamPRO 103 by Dennis Moonin

and they leave a nice even coat on the hull

I rarely write reviews on ebay, but this time I need to make an exception. I've been painting the bottom of my sailboat (4 coats of Interprotect barrier coat, and 2 coats of antifouling bottom paint). The normal polyester nap rollers from West Marine left fuzz behind, necessitating sanding before applying the second coat of Interprotect. Consequently, I switched to the foam rollers, also from West Marine, but they couldn't hold up to the harsh chemicals in the barrier coat, and the foam would quickly separate from the cardboard tube. As a result, I was going though 2 rollers per coat - looking for a more economical alternative, I found these FoamPRO rollers. And I have to say, I'm impressed - they are fairly reasonably priced (relative to other foam rollers) and they WORK. I've been able to get through an entire coat of paint without having the roller start to disintegrate on me, and they leave a nice even coat on the hull. My only regret is that I didn't start with these!

Pros
  • Paint Rollers
Cons
  • Too many bubbles. I got better results with a roller made from woven fibers.
