I have a 100+ year old family rocking chair that I am the fourth generation to own. It was drying out and none of the modern day moisturizers added much moisture to keep it from squeaking etc. My wife applied a thick layer and we just let it sit for two days and then wiped/buffed off any remaining residue. This gave the surface a pleasant shine again and reduced creaking by around 20%. So the best results so far and I hope future uses will continue to improve things.
