This is perfect for my needs. I use it in on/off mode, not PID mode (just turns the heater off when it hits setpoint and turns it back on when the temperature drops 0.3 degrees below setpoint). Keep in mind that this uses a mechanical relay that can handle about 3 amps max. I use it to control a 90w heater so I draw less than 1 amp. I chose the RH version so I don't have to install the SCR and heatsink like the VH version. The downside is that if the VH plus SCR is mute when switching, you can hear the mechanical relay switching on and off. If I were using it as a PID controller (where it turns on and off quickly) the noise from the mechanical relay would be objectionable and it would be worth the extra cost and complexity of switching to VH plus SCR. For this project RH is doing great. I doubt a mechanical relay will last as long as an SCR, but for this project it only needs to be cycled on and off every 5 minutes or so.
