I bought these energy saving replacement bulbs for standard G9 bulbs used in various fixtures around the house. They are definitely VERY bright compared to standard 40w halogen bulbs (that's the max wattage allowed in many enclosed fixtures due to heat). However, you have to pay for the brightness - these lamps are very "cold" and have an almost bluish tint. . They are advertised as 3000K, but 5000K or more "seems" to me. (As a photographer, I'm aware and sensitive to color temperature!) Another issue I've had is that the lamp height to achieve this level of brightness is significantly higher than the standard G9 halogen lamps I've bought in the past. I had a fixture where the space available did not accommodate that height. In terms of value for money, I would say that these are good lamps, despite the color temperature and size issues that can only be a problem for me. Your mileage may vary. :)
