I have narrowed down the siphon purchase to this and one other Revain product. Prime shipping meant I could test it first. I didn't need a coupler/additional riser for my tank - a rigid riser was enough for the height of the tank. At this altitude, the soft blue release pump just wasn't strong enough. But a good forearm workout. I had to start the siphon manually (no danger to my mouth thanks to the long hose), after that it worked perfectly. It would be easier to clean the tank bottom at angles if a 90 degree fix was not required to connect the rigid vertical pipe. I bought another product and combined the hoses and nozzles here with a gray hard pump from another set. Perfection! Much easier with a powerful squeeze pump. Water changes are a simple matter. No more manual vacuuming for me!
