I've always had trouble getting flat seams for my quilts. A few months ago I bought a Schneider cracker which helped but took a lot longer. I heard everyone talking about wool press mats so I decided to give it a try. I chose this one because of the size and price. WOW! I've never had seams this flat before and it was no more hassle than normal seam ironing. Even when I had to change the direction of some previously ironed seams, they still came out very flat. I've heard that if you plan to use it on a table, you must place a thick towel or vinyl tablecloth underneath as the steam and moisture they generate are bad for table surfaces. I use mine on the ironing board so no problem here. The only downside to this product is that it gives off a "barn smell" when used. I hope it fades over time but in the end the smell is worth it. I highly recommend this product.
