Review on Trim Lok Fender Flare Edge Trim by Paul Lewis

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works great as a replacement gasket and is much cheaper than Toyota VIBRATION ISOLATION part

Bought this product to replace the fender flares (the strip of rubber that sits between the flare and the body) on my 1998 4runner Limited. I removed the highlights to colorize them. Bought 25 feet which was more than enough to line up torches that needed it. Worked great. You'll have to experiment a bit with how you attach the hem to the flare to get the right angle. If the angle is not correct, there will be a gap between this rosette and the housing when attaching the flare. When the angle is right, the rosette will fit snugly against the body and look good when the bell is installed. The trim adhesive is applied to the bell and not to the body. It is not necessary to use double-sided tape. What I did was cut to length first. I then peeled back an inch of the red tape protecting the glue on one end to start. Then I installed the rubber pad on the rim of the bell and gently pressed the skin so that it was fully seated on the rim of the bell. Be patient. It takes time. The correct angle is that which keeps the skin snug against the torso when the flare is installed. Once I was happy with the angle and position of the finish (nice and straight), I pulled and removed the rest of the red tape, exposing the adhesive and pressing it back down. Even if you make a mistake and don't get it right the first time, you can pull and reattach the rubber trim. It will just be more difficult to attach the overlay with the adhesive exposed. I think you could replace the red tape covering the adhesive before reinstalling. Or just use a new part. The best way is to make a torch, set it up and learn from your mistakes. 25 feet gives you more if you want to start fresh with a few flashes. Make sure you have enough extra clips (yellow and white) in case you need to unmark and start over. They break easily. Note. If you reinstall the footpegs like I did, there is a trim under the doors. I reused old pads for these two parts, left and right. Trim-Lok Fender Edge Trim - EPDM Rubber Trim for Car & Truck Wheel Arches - Bonded with 3M Tape - .227" Height, 25ft Length
