I bought this unit to control the temperature in my RV while I was away from my dog. a standard 110V USB phone charger as the main power source (using only batteries as a backup) and it reports and warns if this wall charger loses power and gives me an INSTANT warning that the RV has lost food and could be my dog in danger. Just make sure your inverter stays on or turns on when the power is off (if your router uses 110), or make sure your router runs on 12 volts (the best option) so the sensor is over has a Wi-Fi network to connect to. until the power is turned off. This is ten times better than waiting for the temperature to reach the set threshold. It also alerts when power is restored (ie 5 volts = USB/110) and temperature over time. The USB power alert also works as a very simple test trigger (just unplug your device) to ensure your alerts get through. I am very satisfied with this device. Hope this helps Franco.
