This is fine for my needs because my needs are not critical. I just want to be able to control the humidity and temperatures in our attic to potentially eliminate future problems. I've included a photo of these devices next to my AC thermostat, which also measures humidity. I also brought an external analog temperature and humidity sensor for comparison. It reads the same as an AC thermostat. I put one of these outdoors and it was close to analog temperature but still low humidity compared to the weather location and analog instrument. I put it over a sink of hot water covered with a towel and the humidity reached 99%. I just got them so I have no idea about the battery life. I can raise the humidity a few notches from the one I use in the attic and it won't be a problem for me. If I were relying on keeping a fragile animal alive without there being any other way to measure moisture, I wouldn't feel so good about having to rely on its accuracy.
