Good concept; Poor performance

I was glad I got this because I used to have a built in Food Saver with built in bag cutting and sealing function and missed that feature. Unfortunately, this doesn't quite do the job. The item has a handy size and a detachable hook that makes it convenient to hang it anywhere, e.g. B. on a cupboard handle until you need it. The product description says batteries were included - no batteries were included - so I had to get some new AA batteries. After fiddling with the battery cover (unlike most of those covers, it doesn't have a slot to stick a screwdriver or knife in, and it doesn't slide off like some items do (like most remotes), so I'm easy going slipped the blade under the cover and hooked it hoping I didn't break anything. The cover was a little tight but it came loose. The battery label inside is a little hard to see (it's not printed or painted) "But I figured it out and put it in the batteries. I tried the cutter first. I took a whole new snack bag and cut off the top with a knife. It took two or three tries to get a reasonably clean cut. The problem is the edges. By holding the cutting knives, the pouch opens both above and below the blade, so the fingers ver can be turned to keep the bag taut when making the first cut. Here the rim and top of the pouch is inside the body of the cutter and you can't reach up so the blade has a slant Wrinkles and just fold the pouch, don't cut it - when I managed to cutting them, the cut was uneven. because the bag was crumpled when it was finally cut open. I finally found that it was best not to start at the edge, but to cut a few millimeters past the edge. However, this leaves the uncut edge problem. At first I tried just tearing it off - the packaging is so flimsy that I just ripped out an uneven gap, which then didn't close. Finally, somewhere on the third cut, after leveling, I trimmed the edge by running the router backwards. Impractical - scissors would be much better. Finally I tried the filling. I followed the directions and allowed the seal to heat for a few seconds before attempting to seal the pouch. I've made several attempts with little success. My best attempt was to move the sealant across the bag at icy speed, which isn't easy, and in the end the bag was mostly sealed, but there were still gaps I tried to close one at a time. I finally sealed the package but with just a tiny tug and it tore slightly. This has never happened to my Food Saver. I suspect that 2 AA batteries will not provide enough heat to get this to work. The Food Saver is overpriced if all you need is a candy bar cutter/sealer, but at $16 it's overpriced for something that's barely usable. effective even if you spend a lot of time messing around with it. That's a good idea, but needs rethinking.
