Calling it a HEPA filter is a stretch.

Bought because I wanted a better filter than the Subaru OEM filter. First impressions are that there are no installation issues as some have mentioned, nor does it increase the noise level. It has a very slight odor when first used but is the same for most; I have an increased sensitivity to smells, it's not that bad. My biggest problem with this filter is that it's called a HEPA filter, which is a stretch. I have bought aftermarket HEPA filters for other vehicles and compared to OEM filters they are much thicker to capture more particulates. This material on this Bosch 6038C is slightly thicker than the stock OEM version and is a different colour. The downside is that it doesn't have as many pleats as the OEM version, so it clogs up a lot quicker and has less airflow. The other part I don't like is that the OEM version's fabric is bonded to the plastic shell for a secure seal, the Bosch version is a filter that snaps in place and can let in particles from the outside. Overall I'm disappointed with it. Filter.
