Review on πŸ”₯ First Alert CO710: 10-Year Battery & Digital Temperature Display CO Detector by Enes Patiag

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Compact carbon monoxide detector, autonomous, with permanent battery for 10 years; gives no false alarms due to ham radio signals :)

I have two of these to replace the detectors in my house and I hung them on the wall (optional). I got them because I'm a radio amateur and my old detector below (Kidde Nighthawk) kept tripping when I was transmitting on 40m. After some research on the internet I found out that this model is not affected. Turns out I still had to replace my old detector as it was made in 2000 and only lasts 10 years! (I also read that Kidde didn't improve its design until 2004 to prevent false alarms.) It runs on battery power only - no AC connection. In any case, they are compact and easy to install. Note: There is no separate drilling template for wall mounting holes - it is printed at the end of the instructions. My only criticism of these new ones is that one of them was missing mounting hardware in the box, so I had to source the screws and anchors for that myself. On the back is a small switch to turn on the device and a separate one-time switch to disable the device at the end of its useful life. It also has a blue backlight for viewing in the dark and regularly displays the room temperature on the screen. A button on the top of the device is used to turn on the backlight; When pressed and held, a beep sounds to check the device.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • No instructions
