Review on 🌊 Premium Japanese Sharpening Waterstones: Reimagined for Superior Results by Jarom Bulles

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Unbelievable price, now

Quick: Buy this stone, it can replace any stone up to level 600. It's tough, cuts heavy duty steels and HRC, can get a thin edge with light pressure, and could hypothetically replace all your rocks if all you want is a serrated edge. It shaves hair after this stone and cuts faster than the Chosera 600. I received this King 300 stone hoping it would be another valuable product from King and it has exceeded my expectations. I have sharpened and/or repaired chips at least 10 knives so far. This is an amazing stone. It's a hard rock, there's no real mud deposits on it. It cuts quickly with a push-pull technique from toe to heel in a continuous slide along the edge, using the stone for each section from top to bottom before continuing, I have a burr after 1-2 passes got, but my knife WG-10, which lasted 2-3. I reworked it to a finer bevel, so take that number as the Oversharpen. I'm sure I could get less if I wasn't overly beveled. I even sharpened my Cold Steel Barong machete on this little thing, and it cuts paper with the trimmed finish this stone leaves! $30 is great! There is currently no bulge in the stone and I have tested this. still flat, still cuts great and no drag. I thought the lower Rockwell hardened 1055 Barong might clog it up, but a quick rinse and a few light passes with a rust eraser and it looks new. CONS: The color of the stone seems to mask any chips. You can see the knife shavings, but hardly. At first I thought there were no rock chips, but a marathon session with a machete showed a slight accumulation of rock chips. It's still difficult to see the accumulation, so it's difficult to adjust to. But it cuts really fast, and if you're flushing between pages then it really doesn't matter. Not many other cons other than it's priced close to Shapton Pro 120 which should also be a good stone but wears out quickly. It does wear out, after many sharpenings I found it a little worn but it still cuts S30V, M390, VG-10 and anything less difficult with ease. For those who doubt the nature of the Splash-N-Go stone, if you look at the photo you can see where I applied a layer of water to the stone, which returned after 3 minutes, and the stone along the edge dries, and in the middle it is dry, and there is absolutely still a water level layer on the surface of a stone. It's not much more than that. I still soak it for about 30 seconds just to make sure the thing is wet where it should be. With use, it dries regularly, and only the surface that constantly gets water remains wet. Dries out within a few hours. Due to the barely noticeable slowdown when using my 60-62 HRC VG-10 knife, I would downgrade this rating to 4.5 stars. Because I can't, I got caught. That's a great stone. If you are looking for a cheap rough stone then this is a fantastic stone, go ahead and buy it! King: when will i get my deluxe 1200 so fast? What I hate the most about my 1200 is the long soaking and drying time (and narrow width) so to be able to get the same spray-n-go cover that wears as slowly as this one would be great! Especially when you can save amazing prizes, King is known and appreciated. UPDATE: We also used BD1n, it's fantastic. I cannot say enough good things about this stone. Out of the box I used it to smooth my 1200 Deluxe King which did it well although it was only uneven due to the thickness of the printer paper it served to smooth the 300 stone just enough to cover the outer layer peel off and do some real work with stone. My outdoor knives love this stone as the rapid movement after this stone leaves a nice jagged edge for camping use while still keeping it sharp enough to cut through gauze and other essential tasks with ease. I'm considering buying another one so I can have it forever. Update 7/2019: This stone never ceases to amaze me! My M390 blade hasn't worn it down and it can get so smooth it's softer than my Chosera 600! I really enjoy using this stone and its convenience and ease of use. I seriously could probably just use this stone and it would make the knife sharp enough for most unless they were a sushi chef or something. I have been using a kitchen knife in my kitchen for over 2 weeks that has only been sharpened on this and last strip of newspaper. Fine, fine stone
