Not suitable for testing acidity of canning recipes

I saw them being sold for testing acidity of beer and wine so figured they should work fine for my needs e.g . Basically checking the acidity in my homemade canning salsa and the like. What I need is to be able to see exactly when the pH is at or below 4.5 (the maximum pH for swimming in the water). What the tiny image doesn't show is that the color chart jumps two full dots between them, so red is 2.0, orange is 4.0, yellow is 6.0, etc. Also, the bar on them hasn't changed color at all, I had to drip the liquid onto a white saucer to see the result. If you just don't want to fool around, maybe a kids' project, I recommend using plastic strips with color-changing squares, such as B. pH 0-14 test strips, 100/box. PS Lesson learned: sellers are too lazy with their pictures and details; Unless they bother with decent sized image and text format specs, I won't buy.

Cons
  • String is shorter than other samples
