Using this thickness gauge is intuitive and the readings are quite stable. I can't comment on reliability as I just received it. The numbers are large and easy to read. Voice prompts are great too. Also like the rechargeable lithium battery. However the calibration instructions are terrible so here is the process I understood step by step: Wintact WT230 Calibration: 1. Go to CAL then Basic Calibration2. Start with a baseplate, black or colored.3. IMPORTANT: First press the tool against a bare board - not a plastic backing. (hint says "0"), remove plate when "up arrow" points "up". 4. Follow the instructions for each of the 6 substrate thicknesses: 51, 101, 248, 503, 1009, 1513 Β΅m5. Listen for the up and down arrows and beeps to know when to check the next thickness.6. The message "Calibration complete" appears. Check the calibration with each substrate thickness.7. Repeat with the other base plate. There will be slight discrepancies between the Fe and nFe readings.
