I have a home made 55 gal. barrel filter for my HUGE outdoor carp pond and it works great, reduces the cleaning chores. I never thought I would need a filter like this for my 20 gallon. aquarium, but I do. Unfortunately after purchasing 2 other types of filters that couldn't handle my cloudy water (very disappointing) I bought this canister filter system. After about 4-6 hours, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA, THE ANGEL FISH SING AND THE WORLD BECAME MY FRIEND AGAIN, the muddy water GONE! My aquarium is beautiful and ready for new homeowners to move in. What an idiot am I not to use an external filter right away. either. JUST SAYING :)
