In my car (Volvo XC70) you had to put something on the dead pedal because the OEM rubber floor mats didn't cover the dead pedal - it didn't make sense why not - as mud and water would slide off the dead pedal. pedal area and get under the mat. Plastic material was sewn onto the carpet in the existing pedal dead zone, but not raised high enough. So I added this to raise the pedal contact dead zone. The reviewer said she didn't care if the chrome was badly attached, all she needed was a rubber floor - neither did I - but my chrome was attached so I left it. alone and simply glued this pedal onto the pedal's existing flat dead zone. Works well. I only wish the floor mat could be tucked under - they really should make floor mats that also cover the pedal dead area.
