This magnet is good for cleaning but it doesn't float so if it comes loose it will fall to the bottom. It comes with a rope to fish it out, but if you have something in the tank it will get tangled in it. If you kept it in a tank as suggested, the rope would become quite awkward as it looks like a piece of strong thread. I won't use it at all. I go back to the store and buy a new one that floats.
