Review on Archgon Aluminum External USB DVD+RW Super Drive for Apple MacBook Air, Pro, iMac, Mini - SEA TECH 1 by Jason Masango

I have a 2008 iMac. I upgraded to Maverick when it became available. To my annoyance, my iMac has stopped reading my Seagate 3TB external hard drive. All my music was stored on that disk. Now Apple doesn't just let you download from iCloud again, you can only do that if you bought the music from iTunes as far as I can tell. So I have to re-import my CDs. Also, to my annoyance, my iMac's CD/DVD drive is very erratic and won't recognize most of my CDs, just ejecting them. I was about to give up my iMac when I discovered this product. It works out. It imports CDs two or three times faster than a super drive and is my new best friend. I expect within the next few months I'll be replacing my iMac with the latest model that doesn't have onboard storage and now I don't have to buy an overpriced Apple product. USB ports on the computer, not in a hub. It needs to be USB powered as it doesn't have its own power adapter to plug into an outlet.
