I often use my laptop to control external displays on my desk. My laptop is closed in the corner. I used this to prop it up so my laptop doesn't just sit on my desk but has its own space. The stand works well for this, clamped to the side and out of the way. The only downside to this product is the assembly. It's not difficult, it just has a lot of small annoying steps. I understand that this is a necessary evil. I don't travel with this stand (I'm a light artist, I don't need a laptop stand when I travel), but I do use Odyssey flight cases for some of my other stuff. and this material holds up well. I can't say for sure, but I imagine this stand will hold up just as well as her other stuff.
