I've just installed a new interlocking waterproof base (waterproof up to 24 hours) and my washing machine is an older model that does its job really well so I only swap out parts when they break. I don't want any problems with my new floor so I thought putting the machine drain pan underneath would prevent damage to my new floor. I'm so glad I did. Although not yet for the reason you might be thinking, a few weeks ago my car became unbalanced (yes, after I put the washing machine drain pan back in place and I'm glad I did when the machine was rocking enough to make a circle in the washing machine drain pan and don't damage my new floors. I have since put new feet on the washing machine but who knew I would have such a problem so this pan will solve at least 2 problems , label your new non-waterproof floors to keep water out and if you ever have a leak you can fix it before it does any damage!
