The tailgate was a pain but I went ahead and was able to replace it in a 2011 F250 driver's side tailgate without removing the entire latch assembly. Plenty of daylight, a telephone to record internal affairs and many patients to help you with this. You need to turn it counter-clockwise towards the driver's side of the car, using a little more force. it will move and pop out! To put a new one in, you'll need to use your cell phone and map the inside of the door so you can "feel" where you want the new sensor to return to. Then rotate it clockwise back into place. There are many videos on YouTube about it, but none of them were about my real truck model and the driver's side tailgate. Hope this helps you all!
