Review on Olympus Zuiko 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 ED Lens – Compatible with Olympus and Panasonic Standard Four Thirds Digital SLR Cameras by Bali ᠌

Nice product, happy with my purchase and may buy again.

I got it for 6500, the first impression when opening the box is small. The second is weightless. The third one is new! There is plastic all around, but it is so fitted, and of such quality that it’s a sin to complain - iron didn’t even stand next to it! (if you think about the weight, the cost of this weight and, God forbid, rust) Before buying, I was interested in the details of the design, I thought about the mount . Plastic! But there are no negative emotions - it can easily be stronger than metal, silumin, for example. The first days it seemed that the lens, when folded, was not too much larger than the whale, and it seemed that the comfortable carrying of the camera by the lens was a pleasant surprise, as well as a sense of the significance of one's professionalism. Already this impression for a former user of compacts is worth a lot! When zooming, the lens loses its modesty in size twice, but thank God, not a lot! More convenient than whale - the lid is easier to remove; you can immediately take pictures, without any preparatory unlocking, by rotating the zoom ring. I will assume that the constructive quality of the lens group is high, although I did not use the Panasonic 40-150. At least the latter has a smaller diameter front lens, an internal stabilizer, some other bells and whistles, for almost the same price! Naturally - in an Olympus as simple as a Kalashnikov, everything went into quality and reliability! These are the impressions! For the ideal, a wider focus is not enough - 60 mm - either you miss a frame, or you fiddle with changing lenses: 30-150 would be more convenient. The first days I took care of this device, put it in a special box in a bag . Care, not photography . However, when I saw that the design was like a glove, and the grooves were the same, I thought that the Olympus engineers were not fools, and now I put it in a bag without being too arrogant. Of course, the lens is not replaceable, but for photography fanatics it is tiring - fussing with changing optics is simply "counterproductive" - a stunning 14-150 would be an option. Or perishing compact-long-zoom. But for fanatic photographers it will do!

Pros
  • New (synonym - quality)
Cons
  • Almost not.
